Service Description

The 40-hour program is designed for advanced-level translators and interpreters in any language combination with a background in politics, government, political science, public affairs, or a desire to pursue a career in the political field. The program is a hybrid course with a lecture component and a personalized coaching program based on each student's needs, language pairs, and background. The course explores the art and science of translating and interpreting political speech and campaign material. It is an interdisciplinary approach that considers politics, public affairs, policy, critical discourse analysis theory, narrative frameworks, storytelling, and intercultural communication theory. The political translator and interpreter's role is crucial in establishing a unique relationship between politicians and non-native-speaking, bilingual, and bicultural constituents.
